Craig's story was featured on MTV's True Life: I Need A Transplant. Thousands of patients with leukemia and other life-threatening diseases need life-saving bone marrow transplants, but more than 70% don't have a match in their family. Please consider becoming a registered donor to help someone like Craig!
Bone marrow donors are desperately needed nationwide. Please consider becoming a registered bone marrow donor. You can read more at the FAQ on the National Marrow Donor Program's website.
Craig's treatments are more than insurance will pay. Donations can be made at any Wells Fargo to the Craig Brandmeier Fund. You can also send support though PayPal.

I am 25 years old and am a recent survivor of Hodkins Disease. I went through 4 months of intense kemo, and 1 month of everyday radiation. Your story came out when I was still in my battle. Though it made me cry intensely, you were the first person I had seen around my age that was going through the same thing. Though my struggle was nothing like yours, you helped me to have to hope and remember that I was not the only one! Thank you.
Hi new cyber friend…I am about to watch your episode of True Life. Feel like I already know you just from reading comments about you! Never give up! You will never be alone! Rock on! COlleen in MN
Craig,
My heart goes out to you, Kat, and your family. My uncle was diagnosed with AML in the 80′s, and was one of the first patients to receive a bone marrow transplant. Sadly, he lost his battle but his life touched many. I know you have impacted many as well- including me. After visiting your site I have registered to become a donor. This is something that I have wanted to do for a long time, but was scared to do. Thank you for being an inspiration and I will keep you in my prayers.
Hello Craig
I was so touched to read your story in the OC Register you are very brave in dealing with your battle you are an inspiration to all. My 3 year old grandson is currently under chemo treatment for a brain tumor I understand how difficult everything and everyday can be. My prayers and thoughts are with you always and thank you for sharing and giving me encouragement to be strong.
I saw your episode on MTV a while back and have wondered how everything went after seeing it. I came across this website tonight and I think it’s great that you keep in touch with everyone and let them know what’s going on in your life and your battle with cancer. Please hang in there and keep being strong. I’m wishing the best for you and your family and wish I could give hugs to all of you.
Craig you and your family are in are prayers and God bless you.
Love,
Davis Family
I wish you the best of luck with your battle!
Hope all goes good for you and your family.

Craig and Kat, Not hardly a day goes by that you’re not thought of. So glad you enjoyed your stay. We’re doing some of the same as David will start his transplant soon, provided everything goes according to plan. Saw Crater Lake for the first time. Mike and Beth Shuck went and that inspired David to see a few things we haven’t. Beth has been busy celebrating Mike’s life with friends and family in three cities, from Chicago, Arizona, and Portland. That says a lot about Mike doesn’t it?! God bless and hold you both.
Thanks so much for the update, Craig. I have been thinking of you and your family a lot, and reading about your get-together really brightened my day. I’m so glad that you felt well enough to enjoy it.
Sending you and Kat and your families my very best wishes, and best of luck at your doctor’s appointment.
Here on the East Coast, I am embarrassed to say that I typically fall asleep before your broadcast, so I really appreciate the time you take to update this site as well.
May you continue to have many more good days surrounded by your family and loved ones.
Sorry, that should have said “lifeL and not “lie”! Yikes, my apologies
Craig — continue to live your lie, enjoy your friends, family, and community. Doctors can’t tell you exactly how long any of us will be around on this old planet. My friend’s mom was diagnosed with lung cancer and was told she had 3-6 months left to live. That was eight years ago and she’s still kicking around! Peace be with you ~~~ you’ll be in my prayers~~Cindy
hi craig

and please remembe with God all things are possible
Hi Craig,
I read about your story in the orange county register newspaper and I felt like I had to write to you and let you know that I am keeping you in my prayers. I am a Christian and believer of Jesus Christ and I’ve been praying for a miracle for you and will continue to do so!
Hey Craig!
I was browsing through MTV and I came across your story. I was instantly touched. My mother had a liver transplant 6 years ago. When she was diagnosed I was underage and unable to donate a portion of my liver to her. That destroyed me. Since then I have been working with the Wisconsin Donor Network to promote organ donation. All the years I have been volunteering and promoting organ donation I never knew Bone Marrow could be transplanted and anyone can donate. Through your story I have been able to greatly improve my knowledge and also pass the knowledge on to others.
On a personal note… I found your story a few months ago. I reviewed the guidelines to be able to donate. I found out that my weight was preventing me from saving a life. Let alone slowly killing my own.Since this realization I have managed to lose 50pounds and I am now a registered donor. Thank you Craig and Kat for allowing me to regain my life back and to save the lives of others.
I just want to Thank you all that keep sending the prayers and support for our son Craig. The entire Brandmeier family are so grateful!! Please pass on his web site and encourge people to send him comments and if possible donate and Please become a donor. Craig’s very very proud Mom Judy

My whole family is praying for you!
You will beat this. I know you will.
Hello Craig. My name is Karen and I currently have AML. I was diagnosed on April 22, 2010, and have been battling ever since. I started my journey at HOAG hospital, but was transfered to City of Hope in Duarte, CA due to the nasty nature of my AML. I have a very “high risk” AML that requires me to go to transplant right away. The Bone Marrow Registry found a match for me in Germany! My transplant date is currently scheduled for Aug. 25. I will readmit to COH next Monday, Aug. 16 for preparations. I have currently been through 3 rounds of chemo.
I read your story last year in the OC Register before I ever knew I would share in your journey and it impacted me. Seeing your story once again yesterday was nice.
I am a 39 year old wife to an incredible man and mother of two beautiful children, 11 and 13. We live in Huntington Beach and are very involved in the community. I will win this battle and I know that you will too! Dig deep and fight hard! I also have a website with my story and current updates on my progress. If you are interested please visit it and send me a message. I would love to hear from you!
God Speed!
Karen
